What to expect in your treatment
Osteopathy is a patient centered system of healthcare.

I ask you questions about the reason for your visit, your general health, medical history, previous injuries, lifestyle, and other medical care you are receiving and medications you are taking. The information is recorded in your patient notes and is confidential.

I then ask you to make simple movements to observe your posture and mobility. I then examine area(s) of your body that are related to your condition, such as tightness or weakness in muscles and stiffness in joints.

I explain my findings and treatment/management plan with you. Treatment will only commence after you have given consent.

Treatment techniques.
Treatment uses a wide range of gentle hands-on techniques including:

• Soft tissue massage: muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia are massaged or stretched

• Articulatory treatments: A gentle mobilizing movement taking a joint through its range of movement to enhance movement

• Manipulation or thrust (high velocity technique- HVT)

• Balanced ligamentous tension (BLT): a hold of ligaments in optimal position to rebalance the ligaments

• Muscle energy treatment (MET): encourages stretch in restricted muscles

• Osteopathy in the cranial field

• Visceral osteopathy- osteopathy that focuses on the internal organs

• Stretches and exercises and postural advice to enhance the treatment

Please bring:

• a list of medications you are taking

• shorts and a singlet top
